What makes us Different?
What makes a Christian different? Sacrifice? I know a lot of people that sacrifice a lot more than we do as Christians. What about the Mormon missionaries that give up two years to go on their mission? I don't think it is sacrifice. What about holiness? I think the monks in Asia are pretty holy. Extreme fastings, self denial, funny robes. They are pretty much totally set apart and holy. What about knowing the Bible? Does our knowledge of Scripture us different? How about the Jewish scribes that had memorized entire books of the Old Testament? I don't know many believers that have done that either. No, the Scripture tells us that what sets us apart is not sacrifice or holiness or even knowing the Scriptures. What sets us apart is love. It is love for God and man that sets us apart. It is a genuine care for others. I think really this is only possible through the power of the Holy Spirit. So many things that look like love in the world really our self motivated and self serving. Christian love is love that starts with God and flows through us to the world God loves. It is sacrificial, it is holy, and it is Scriptural. It is all these things, but it is more. God Himself is love. When we love others, we are most like Him. Let's love one another. For God is love, and everyone that loves is born of God.
One of the Greatest Spiritual Laws!
Even the Sea World trainers know it. If you want to do something spectacular, you better put in the work. It will take time and work. It is one of the most powerful laws in God's design. What you sow you will reap. Put in time to study, and you will know more. Put in time to be friendly; you will have more friends. Put in time to seek the Lord; you will find Him. Put it in, and you will get something out. The more you put in; the more you will get out. Put in the good stuff, and see what comes up. It should not be a surprise. Put in the bad stuff...no surprise what will come up there either. It really is true, you will get what you put in. How is that working out for you? Let's do something spectacular for the Lord. Put in the time and the work, and you will be rewarded.
