DISCIPLINE

One of the most important lessons a child can learn is the proper response to authority. To accomplish this task, we must set discipline guidelines that are enforced consistently, fairly, and lovingly. Listed below are the guidelines for dealing with major problems and the day-to-day classroom situations. The administration reserves the right to handle each individual discipline situation uniquely as the Lord should lead. All disciplinary decisions will be made prayerfully.

Classroom Standards and Discipline

All students should enter and exit the room in a quiet, orderly fashion. Students will raise their hand and be acknowledged by the teacher before speaking out. Students are to remain seated during instruction and lecture time. Each student will sign in and out on a bathroom sign out sheet, and must have a hall pass or note outside of class.  Students will stand and salute the flag during the Pledge of Allegiance.

In order to enforce these standards a teacher may use prayer and counsel, a natural consequence, a new seat assignment, verbal or non-verbal cues, a note or phone call home or an official discipline using the point system.

Major Infractions

The following discipline problems will be IMMEDIATELY REFERRED to the administration:

1. Drug or alcohol involvement or possession

2. Sexual misconduct

3. Smoking any substance, or possession of tobacco or chewing tobacco

4. Fighting or physical harassment

5. Extreme insubordination or disrespect

6. Forged notes

7. Stealing

8. Vandalism

9. Any illegal activity

10. Profanity (verbal or written or online)

The infractions listed above, including BEFORE AND AFTER school hours, ON AND OFF CAMPUS, will automatically result in an office referral and may result in IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION OR EXPULSION. These consequences will be applied at the discretion of the school administrators. Choosing to allow these behaviors in your life is to choose to attend school elsewhere.

Classroom Infractions

The following classroom problems will result in discipline points.

1. Disrespect of any kind

2. Continual tardiness [See Tardy Policy — under “Attendance”]

3. Class disturbance (talking, off task, failure to bring materials to class, etc.)

4. Throwing or shooting items (rubber bands, paper clips, pencils, etc.)

5. Horseplay (rowdiness, clowning, etc.)
